Sydney Trains - Rail Operation Centre
JULY 2022
Alexandria, NSW 2015
The Alexandria Rail Operations Centre faced critical water seepage issues through the roof, risking electrical interference that could disrupt the entire rail network. Stones Plumbing was hired to replace the failed waterproof membrane and continues to provide ongoing maintenance to prevent future problems.
The Alexandria Rail Operations Centre building was experiencing water seepage coming through the roof slab, skylight panels, and expansion joints. As the control center for managing trains throughout the CBD, this was an extremely important problem, as water could cause electrical interference, potentially throwing the entire rail network into disarray.
The roof area of the building was constructed with a waterproof membrane that had broken down due to water seeping between the membrane and the slab. This caused the membrane to lift away from the slab, allowing water to seep through weak spots, cracks, or penetrations in the slab and into the area below.
Stones Plumbing was engaged to remove the failed membrane and replace the waterproofing of the roof areas. We have continued to provide ongoing maintenance for the Rail Operations Centre to ensure no future waterproofing problems arise.escription of project goes here
